When it rains, it pours

There is a lot happening this summer. I'm excited to share with you several events that are kicking off over the next few months. I recently mentioned. my gallery opening. for the "Dynamic Poetry of Nature" coming this Friday! It's hard to believe the time is already here, For the next two months, I'll have about 40 pieces on display. in the upper floor gallery at the Visual Arts Center on Nye Beach,

Please note that during the exhibition, all sales will go through the gallery,

On August 16th (weather permitting) I will co-host a "star party" with the Newport Department of Parks and Recreation. I'll start by sharing some of the sights available to us in Newport's summer night skies, including when and how to view them. Then, I'll review my equipment and begin projecting a live view of the moon. We'll find some Apollo landing sites, then move on to possible other targets including a star cluster, a galaxy, and Saturn. It's not a dark site, but it'll be dark enough for us. It's a casual, fun, family-friendly event, so come as you are! If you are ever invited to a formal "dark site" star party, be sure to familiarize yourself with proper star party etiquette and feel free to practice at our event! More details are on the Facebook events page, and that's where we'll post any updates or changes due to weather.

Finally, in September I'll be conducting a two-day "Introduction to Nighttime Photography" workshop at the Visual Arts Center! It's called "intro," but to clear, it's not a shallow intro to a few concepts, but a broad intro to many concepts that you can pursue but might not have known about before. Bring your camera or even camera-equipped smartphone, and I'll show you how to plan, acquire, process, and present the beautiful scenes from meteors to the Milky Way that can only be found at night. In addition to planning and figuring out the right focal length, aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings, I'll also introduce stacking and processing to push the realm of possibility even further.

I continue to spend as much time in the clears nights as possible capturing new images, so stay tuned for more galleries. In the meantime, have you seen the Yaquina Bay Bridge after Dark? Check out the 14 images that shed the bridge in a "new light."

Thank you all and have a wonderful rest of your day, week, month, and year to come.

Jeremy
