Wrapping Up an Incredible Year Under the Stars 🌌

2025 is coming to a close. I can't help but reflect on what an amazing journey it's been. Like every year before, I had the opportunity to take on new challenges, run experiments and chase new targets. I felt like I wasn't nearly as productive this year, but then I started pulling together images for my fourth annual celebration and retrospective of the year and realized I was definitely not sleeping on the job. Because images convey more than words, here are my highlights from 2025.

✅ Here some of the other milestones I'm celebrating:

  • I learned how to create my first hand-crafted metal prints. I love that I could bring the process in house and lower my cost to produce pieces. It's not just about the markup, but the waste involved with shipping in large boxes full of plastic and other materials. There's something magical about creating my own piece from start to finish.

  • I created a new, one-of-a-kind hologram print. The concept has been in my head for quite some time, but I finally executed on it. I'm incredibly happy with the result and encourage you check it at Brian McEneny's gallery in Seal Rock where it waits patiently for the right collector to give it a home.

  • I kicked off several new services:

    • After mastering the art of dye sublimation, I am happy to offer my printing services to local artists, friends and neighbors who are interested in seeing their works on metal.

    • I did several workshops for nighttime photography. My students photographed the Milky Way, galaxies, planets, the moon and even glowing bioluminescent plankton.

    • I also did a few custom one-on-one coaching sessions. One student wanted to capture the night sky to create a metal print to give to their partners as a gift. They were able to obtain some spectacular images of the Milky Way with their phone. I printed it for them on metal. This is what they said about the session: "Fantastic, helpful, and well informed. I learned a lot and was blown away by the work produced."

🖼️ The Push-Pin Show kicks off today! I'm thrilled to participate in this 35-year local tradition and be a part of the community showcase. The reception is at Newport's Visual Arts Center and will begin at 2pm this afternoon. Come say hi and check out all of the creativity from artists young, old, and in between.

🗓️I am down to my last ten (wait, just sold one so nine) calendars. I'll bring them to the reception today. I reserved these last few exclusively for my friends, neighbors, and fellow community members here on the coast. If you've been thinking about grabbing one, now is the time!

👉 Order yours before they're gone!

I have many fun plans for the coming year. I'd love it if you took some time to leave your thoughts and comments on this post about what you'd love to see more of in the coming year, or questions you may have, or ways I may be able to help give back to this amazing community.

Here's a rundown of the pieces that found new homes last year:

I am slowly migrating content from my older website to this one so that the tools and practical guides are all in a single place. I also plan to release a few guides, manuals, and tools and mark it on your calendar (if you have one of mine, it's already marked for you) to come see the Oregon Coast after Dark exhibition at the Chessman gallery that launches in March!

Your support means the world to me, and I can't wait to share more in 2026. Until then, clear skies and happy imaging!
